How I Turned Around a Terrible Day: The Bad Day Bailout Plan

We all have those days where nothing goes right, and your mind won’t stop focusing on just how spectacularly bad everything feels.

Despite being a mindset coach with a deep toolkit, I recently found myself stuck in a loop of apathy, overwhelm, and mental static. In other words, I was having a no-good, rotten, terrible day!

Instead of pushing through or ignoring it, I paused and created what I now call my “Bad Day Bailout Plan.”

If you're an empath, a sensitive soul, or just a human navigating life’s chaos, then this blog is for you!

1. Start With Grounding

The first sign that things were going to be a little weird that day was waking up in the morning with a buzzing feeling under my skin.

It felt like a combination of too much caffeine and restlessness. As if! I hadn't even had my morning coffee yet!

People who are energetically sensitive can experience this feeling with stress, solar flares, too much EMF exposure, excess caffeine, anxiety, or being around others who are angry or nervous.

When you feel like something's a little "off" with your energy, then grounding can help.

Grounding can be done in a variety of ways, but the principle is that you want to rebalance your energy so that you return to your normal baseline state.

 Grounding can look like:

  • Walking barefoot outside

  • Holding grounding crystals like Onyx or Black Tourmaline

  • Eating root vegetables like carrots and potatoes

  • Using grounding mats or earthing sheets

I opted for wearing an Onyx necklace, and it helped calm that electric buzzing feeling within about an hour.

2. Use Flower Essences for Emotional Balancing

Optimism is my #1 core value, so when I'm feeling apathetic, then I know something unusual is going on with my mood, energy, or body.

To help rebalance myself, I turned to Bach Flower Essence Therapy, specifically the Wild Rose essence, which addresses hopelessness and the “What’s the point?” mindset.

It’s a gentle, energetic form of support that can help stabilize your emotional frequency.

Just add a few drops to your water (look for non-alcohol options if needed) and be gentle with yourself while things are shifting.

3. Meditate with Solfeggio Frequencies

Meditation is my secret weapon!

I recommend it to all my clients, but it's the #1 thing that they usually resist. Don't make that mistake, my friend!

Meditation is scientifically proven to help improve your mindset, reduce the symptoms of stress, and provide valuable answers and insight when practiced regularly.

That day, I intuitively reached for the 528 Hz Solfeggio frequency—the “miracle” tone known for promoting healing and DNA transformation.

I meditated for an hour, letting the frequency rebalance my system. If you're new to this, just search for Solfeggio tracks on apps like Insight Timer, or YouTube and Spotify. They're a game-changer!

4. Detox from Social Media

Did you know that when you're feeling depressed, it's common to read social media for dopamine hits?

Unfortunately, doom-scrolling on social media generally increases a feeling of being overwhelmed especially if you're reading more negative than positive things.

It can end up making your bad day worse!

I decided to do a digital detox to reduce overwhelm and stress. Yep, that means no social media and avoid checking emails frequently if possible.

Why? Because our brains are not built to handle constant fear-based messaging about politics, the economy, the state of the world, or the billion fires that someone wants you to put out at work.

I chose to protect my peace instead of cleaning out my inbox and getting a quick-fix dopamine hit via social media.

5. Be Selective with Entertainment

Even music, or TV can hijack your nervous system. Sneaky, right?

I opted for a feel-good movie (Space Cadet in case you were wondering) because your nervous system craves comfort when you feel out of balance.

It was light, inspiring, and free of violence or fear.

Think of media you see and hear as emotional food. Choose nourishment over noise and avoid themes that you know create fear, anger, or overwhelm.

6. Avoid Comfort-Craving Traps

I used to be an emotional eater, and on bad days, my brain still craves dopamine hits through things like pizza, junk food, and ice cream.

Because I know that's my default pattern, I didn’t cave in because junk-food benders may seem like the short-term answer, but they don't make me feel good the next day.

Instead, I found other ways to feel good like:

  • Watching a comforting movie

  • Reading a fun book for a little escape

  • Deep breathing

  • Listening to my body's needs instead of my brain's

If you live in a rural areal like I do where junk food isn’t readily available, consider it a blessing.

Use that distance as a buffer to make more conscious choices.

7. End With Rest and Rejuvenation

I ended the day by going to bed early and reading a cozy book.

The next morning? I woke up feeling like myself again—creative, hopeful, and clear.

Final Thoughts: It’s Okay to Have Bad Days

Even the pros like me have bad days that are hard to turn around.

Some days, your brain will resist all efforts to feel better. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It just means you need more rest in order to reboot.

Whether you're using grounding, flower essences, or binge-watching something cozy, the key is compassion.

Bad days don’t last, my friend!

If you’re struggling with apathy or emotional overload, don’t wait. Try one of these steps or reach out for support.
